Tuesday Treat: No, I don't sew, I visit my tailor

7/29/2013

Picture
I do many things well, but sewing is not one of them. I can manage to fasten a popped-off button and patch a hole now and then, but real sewing is not my forte. Recently, my cat tore the bed sheet. Those little back claws are sharp! Frugal woman that I am, I attempted to save the item and sew the hole together. I like the sheet set and sure didn't want to throw it away. Alas, my stitching didn't survive the washing machine. It was time for professional help, so I took it to my tailor.

That's right, I have a tailor. She and her husband have a small shop nearby and she is my miracle worker. She's done everything from patching blue jeans to making lovely panels for a divider screen. She looks at me, puzzled when I bring in clothes to be mended. You can't sew? she asks. No my dear, I can't. I don't have a machine and I have very little desire to use one. Every now and then I think how cool it would be to make my own clothes, or even to alter or embellish clothing. Then the urge passes.

Picture
Look at this great job! This would take me hours to do, even if I did have a machine. Would I rather spend $8.64 for a patch that will hold for years, or buy a new sheet set that would cost over $100? I may not be able to sew, but I know how to find excellent help.

Here is your scavenger hunt question for my blog: In my book Into the Magic, what does Star lean against while Adam explores her body? Don't forget to put your answers for the scavenger hunt on the Rafflecopter form where it says   "Niaomi Bellinis'answer"

                                                    **********************

“Are you sure I shouldn’t stay one more day?” she called from behind the door. “If you give me directions, I can do magic. Remember, on Porrima? We did pretty well, together.”

“No, I’ll worry about you and you’ll distract me.”

“I won’t distract you, I promise.”

Star came out of the bathroom wearing a short, see-through robe. Her bedtime garments usually consisted of old T-shirts purchased from the thrift store, which she wore until they had too many holes. For this trip, she’d splurged on this barely there wisp of lingerie. The short style flattered her figure, showing off her legs and hinting at more beneath. Star loved the way the chiffon caressed her skin. Her nipples hardened as the fabric slid over them.

Adam stopped his movements and stared at her. Star gracefully twirled, giving him a full-body view, and she watched his eyes darken and a slow heat flare in them. She suddenly ached for his touch.

“It’s new. Do you like it?”

“I like it very much. I like what’s in it even more. See? You’re already distracting me. Here’s my credit card. Call the airline.”

Star snatched the card from his hand and flounced away, but smiled as soon as her back was turned. He was weakening, she could sense it. He wanted her just as much as she wanted him, perhaps more. His eyes smouldered with lust that demanded to be satisfied.

While she held the phone and waited on hold, she watched Adam set up protection spells. He walked like a panther around her room, graceful and lithe, his movements sure and adept. He was in his element when he did magic. Why didn’t he want to practise it more? One of his many secrets, which she suspected would soon affect her life.

He had to tell her what was going on. She was certain they were meant to be with each other—she felt it in her heart and believed it in her soul. Why else would they have been thrown together on a strange planet for that wild adventure? Their paths had crossed for a reason, and she meant to find out why.

Her ruminations and pleasure at watching Adam were cut short when the customer service representative came on the line and took her credit card information. She could catch a flight early the next afternoon.

The call completed, Star joined Adam at the window.

“I never get tired of this view, no matter how often I come here,” he said.

“It is beautiful. So many lights. If I squint just right, I can turn them into a rainbow.

Adam laughed and put his hand on her hip. The heat from his fingers penetrated the thin material and made her shiver.

“I’m going to leave now. You need rest. It’s been a long day.”

“Don’t leave.”

She turned to face him, tilting her head to look into his eyes. Such beautiful eyes! They were deep brown, with flecks of gold, and right now they were filled with such longing that her heart skipped a beat.

“I really should go.” His voice, thick with desire, contradicted his words.

She moved her body closer to his, her breasts and stomach touching him, absorbing his warmth. The sheer fabric may as well not have been there. Rubbing her torso slowly on his, she reached around his waist, pulling their bodies tight together.

“Damn, you feel good. I could spend hours doing this,” he whispered in her ear.

“So, let’s.”

“No. If I start with you, I won’t want to stop.”

“So don’t.”

Star ran her fingertips across his chest, stroking the hair, caressing his nipples. She bent and took one in her mouth, sucking it, swirling her tongue around the hard surface. The taste of his skin made her pussy throb with need. She had never wanted a man this badly, had never been wrapped in such desperate longing.

“Star…” It was almost a cry of anguish, but she didn’t stop. Instead, she moved her mouth to the left side, teasing the slick point on the right with her fingers.

With a low growl, he cupped her chin and lifted her face, his golden-brown eyes blazing. He leaned her against the window and pulled her hands over her head. Holding them both aloft with one of his, he undid the satin sash of her robe with the other and ran his palm down her body.

Still holding her, he explored with his free hand, tracing the curve of her hip, the swell of her breast. Star closed her eyes and leant back, the cool glass of the window a sharp contrast to her hot flesh.

Adam slid his hand between her legs, fingers stroking her slick folds. One finger found her engorged clit and he brushed it, slowly, teasing. She moaned and tugged her captive hands, eager to touch him. He continued caressing, fingers searching, driving her mad with desire.

With a final tug, she freed her hands and wrapped her arms around his neck, bringing their bodies close again, desperate to have his skin on hers. The feel of his hard cock against her stomach caused another rush of heat, then his lips were on hers. His tongue penetrated her mouth, probing deep. Everything around her ceased to exist, except Adam. His scent, the taste of his mouth, the feel of his firm hands became her world. When he broke the embrace, she nearly fell, so lost was she in his kiss.

He slid the robe off her shoulders, then turned her around and pressed her onto the window again.

Tuesday Treat:  I'm a Pinball Wizard, sort of

My love of pinball machines began when I was in high school. Two other friends and I would spend the night at one girls house and walk up the street to a convenience store to play pinball by the hour. We must have been pretty good because we didn't have a lot of money so the only way we could have played that long was by winning. My next experience was later in life. A friend had a sister who was on a bowling team, so for something relatively inexpensive to do, several of us would hang out at the bowling alley and play the Cyclone. By then I was old enough to enjoy alcohol and other recreational substances, so playing the game went to a whole other level. Good times!

Nowadays, there aren't many pinball machines left so I was delighted to find one at my honey's favorite bar. Lucky for him, since the joint is not my idea of a place to hang out. It's small, smoky, and has no air conditioning. The way a good blues bar should be, he says. It relies on the ocean breeze to keep cool. Sometimes, this brings in winged visitors. The night we went the pool players had to fight for space on the table.

Picture
I'm not a big fan of blues music but since it was my honey's birthday weekend, he got to choose the entertainment so there we were. I had my roll of quarters and a sweaty Scotch and soda; I was content. The new machines are not as good as the oldies and I can't play nearly as long for a few dollars, but it's still fun.
Picture
Yep, I'm burning up the bumpers! This picture was taken with my honey real close behind me. Fun for both. Below I've got my hair down which didn't stay long. The heat finally got us both so we stepped outside and watched the lightning flash across the ocean. (I'm not a good enough photographer to catch those bolts of electricity, so you'll have to use your imagination.)

If you ever have the chance to play a pinball machine, grab it. They're few and far between, but a whole lot of fun!

Hot and steamy, the way we like our romance hop

My winner is Jessi S. Thanks so much everyone!

Wooeee, it is hot outside! As if the heat wasn't bad enough, here in Florida we battle extreme humidity every day. I'm talking about the droplets-popping-on-your-lip-the-moment- you-step-out-the-door kind of sweat. I'm sure grateful for air conditioning. Despite the constant state of warmth we dwell in, something about summer seems to spark romance. Maybe it's because we get to shed our heavy clothes and slip into shorts and a tank top, or because we get to relax on vacation, or maybe it's just that glorious sun stirring up magic and memories. Whatever it is, I enjoy the season and reading hot and sultry books, don't you?

Here's a great way to help you feed your romance addiction. Books! Free books! Hop along and visit over one-hundred and fifty authors who are giving away prizes. Even better, there are two grand prizes to be won on this hop,  a Kindle Fire and a  $50 Amazon.com gift certificate. Big thanks to Malia Mallory and the Insatiable Reads Book Tour for putting on this hop.

For my contest, just leave me a quick comment and say hello. I'll choose a random name at the end of the hop and the winner will receive your choice of one of my back list Ebooks, that's anything except Awaken the Fire, or a bookmark goodie pack filled with delightful handmade items, if you're in the US.

After commenting, hop on over to the next author. I hope you win lots of goodies!

My new book is now available at Total-E-Bound, Amazon, and All Romance Ebooks,
so grab it today!

Along with rewards, magic breeds danger.  Star, Adam and Tristan submit to study with the secret authoritarian group, the Vigilar, in preparation to reveal the existence of magical beings to the world. But will this knowledge be used for good or evil? Doubts creep in when Star is assigned to work with Lucas, a man from Adam’s past, a man known to have dangerous ideas. Bigger problems arise during a sensual ménage when they discover a shape changer dragon in their midst. Lucas claims the Vigilar plan to use shifters, especially powerful beings like dragons, for malevolent purposes, which puts Star and her special abilities in danger. Adam must devise a strategy to thwart the Vigilar and learn more about this controlling entity. While implementing their plans, Star struggles with the fear of unleashing and learning to control all the powers within her. She struggles, too, with her feelings for Adam. Should she fight against her deepening love for a man who could desire power more than he loves her? The combustion of a potent sexual ritual forces Adam to face the question of their love and for Star to awaken the fire within.

Tuesday Treat: Romance on the raido

Have you ever done a radio interview? I hadn't until I got with  Desmond Haas from The Romance Radio Network. Radio is a new form of media I haven't yet used so I figured, why not give it a whirl? Desmond promptly returned the email I sent and we set up a time to do the interview over the phone.

I prepared a little. One mistake I made was not listening to one of his previous interviews. Duh! I ended up being so busy the weeks before I didn't take the time. I think that might have helped me and it certainly would have been the polite thing to do.

Being interviewed live was kind of scary. This was not like answering questions on a written interview where I had time to think about my responses and go back and rewrite them if I wanted. I had no idea what Desmond was going to ask me. Well, I knew we would talk about my book and probably erotic romance, but some of his questions caught me by surprise. He graciously offered to edit out any spots if I felt like I made a complete idiot of myself, but I thought the talk went well and decided to let it fly like it was. I was pretty sure I hadn't dropped the F bomb anywhere. After he posted it and I had a chance to listen, I was pleased. See what you think.

Desmond wants you on his show if you are a romance writer, publisher or artist. Visit his website, send him an email and hopefully you will get to have as much fun as I did. If you're an author this is a great chance to perfect your skill at giving impromptu answers. How many times are you approached and questioned about your work? Readers, here's an opportunity to get to know your favorite writers, live and unrehearsed. Enjoy my interview and feel free to leave me a comment.

With a growl of pure animal lust, he grabbed her hips and plunged his cock inside her. She cried out, bursts of pleasure firing through her body. As she’d fantasised in their recent interplanetary communication, she pinned his arms to the side with her knees, and began to leisurely roll her hips.

Adam’s dark brown eyes burned nearly black with desire. She gazed into them as she gradually increased the tempo. He threw his head back and clenched his fists, but she kept the speed painstakingly slow. Finally, unable to bear it any longer, she planted her hands on his chest and picked up her pace, riding him hard.

Tuesday Treat: My nose is loving it! Part two

7/9/2013

PictureBy Paul Thevenaz [Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons
I'm currently working on a book about werewolves, so I've been doing research on animal behavior and characteristics. Animals use their sense of smell for very important activities like finding food, since they can't pop into the local supermarket and pick up dinner. They also need their noses to find mates (no Match.com) and to avoid predators. We humans, however, get to use smell for more fun activities.

My friend and expert aromatherapist, Doreen DeSerres, sat down with me one day and together we came up with a blend of oils called Sensual Enchantment. I wanted something that would put me in a place of love, lust, magic, and sensuality. The recent series of books I've written incorporates all these, and if you've read any of my stories you know how important the sense of smell is to me. According to Science Clarified, "Smell, called olfaction, is the ability of an organism to sense and identify a substance by detecting tiny amounts of the substance that evaporate and produce an odor."

Here's what's in Sensual Enchantment and the properties of  each oil:

AMBER:  A mix of exotic & mysterious pure botanical essential oils
YLANG YLANG EXTRA SUPERIOR: Aphrodisiac enhancement
PATCHOULI:  Earthly passion
SPRUCE:      Woodsy fairy realm magic
CINNAMON: Hot fiery spice

Wow! Is it any wonder when I wear this, I feel like burning up the pages with sensual words? Speaking of sensual words...
