Tuesday Treat: Romance with rocks

Have you ever been to a rock and gem show? I love rocks, gemstones and crystals, and I try to make it to the shows in our area every chance I get. These elements have long been associated with romance, love and magic and they have powerful earth energy. I weave them into my stories often.

Rock and gem shows aren't just a bunch of long-haired hippies waving crystals, or grizzled miners with chunks of stones falling out of their pockets. There are many types of items for sale at these events from precious gems in intricate jewelry settings to raw stones in every variety imaginable.

There's something for every budget starting with simple polished rocks for a few dollars to gorgeous jewelry and huge chunks of gemstones for hundreds. I managed to behave myself this year and came away with a few treats.

I won a Himalayan salt crystal lamp donated by Book and Bead Outlet, but since I already have one, they were kind enough to let me exchange it for a copper and freshwater pearl bracelet. Though it was a little more than I should have spent, I couldn't resist the heart-shaped amethyst stone. The cactus crystal? It's so phallic, I had to have it!  

If you get the opportunity, go to a show in your area. You never know what you will find amongst the rocks.
