Him: Do we have any wrapping paper?
Me:  In that box in the living room.
Him:  What box?
Me: That box of Christmas stuff.
Him:  What box?
Me:  That big box in the middle of the floor that's normally not there and looks like Christmas exploded inside it.
Him: (a minute later) I can't find it.
Me: It's there. Look.
Him: I can't find it. I'll just use the newspaper. 
Me: (goes into the living room, finds it in two seconds) 

Him: Are you making coffee?
Me: No, tea. Do you want coffee?
Him: I'll have some if you're making it.
Me: I'm making tea. Do you want coffee?
Him: No. Yes, if you're making it.
Me: I just need to boil water and grind beans. Do you want some?
Him: No. Yes.
Me:  *sigh*

Him: Where's the mayonnaise?
Me:  In the fridge. Blue lid.
Him: I can't find it.
Me:  Blue lid, top shelf.
Him:  It's not here.
Me: I'm going to come out and find it in two seconds. Watch.
Him: It's not here.
Me: If I find it, you owe me a million dollars.
Him: Fine.
Me: (finds it in two seconds, does not yet have million dollars)

Him:  What are you doing after your shower?
Me: Maybe writing awhile. Why?
Him: Don't come out of the bathroom until I say so.
Me: Why?
Him: It's a surprise.
Me: (after shower) Can I come out now? (peeks around corner, sees roses, wine, chocolate, and a card on the bed) Oooooo! *happy sigh*

This is why I can't write when he's home.

I've spent holidays in hell. Okay, maybe not quite hell, but some really scary versions of heck. I've been sick, alone, with the wrong man, with a sick man, wanting to be alone, with family, without family, with crazy family, you name it.

Mixing business with pleasure has never been so much fun

Phryne Fisher...my new favorite heroine. We've been Netflix pigging out on Blacklist and Agents of Shield, which are two great shows, but with the additional holiday stress creeping into my brain, I decided it was time for something a little more mellow. I must have intrigue and excitement in my television viewing, so I'm delighted to have found Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. 

Phryne Fisher is a lady detective in Australia. When I saw the blurb for the show I recall reading a book that sounded very similar to this subject. There can't be too many lady detectives in Australia, right?  Sure enough, Miss Fisher is the same fabulous heroine I'd discovered long ago in a book by Kerry Greenwood. Phryne (Essie Davis) is described as "...a glamorous and thoroughly modern woman of the 1920s." She loves exercising her deductive talents, so she teams up with the local Detective Inspector Jack Robinson, a delicious hunk of man played by Nathan Page. Phryne is the perfect romance heroine. She's brave, likes to have fun, and oh yes, she takes lovers without guilt. In fact, she does everything without guilt. My kind of woman! She's wealthy, which means she's able to to buy a gorgeous motor car and an even more stunning house. Part of the fun of the show is watching life in the 1920s. There's an electric romance building between Phyrne and Jack. They can't act on their mutual attraction because...no, I'm not going to ruin it for you. Watch the program.


This really happy news? Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries will be continued for season three. Go Phryne!

Ready for something totally NOT Christmas? How about a sci-fi movie? Kind of. Interstellar is mostly science fiction, but it's also action/adventure, suspense, way too much drama for my taste, and even a little romance. That's my big problem with this movie; it can't make up it's mind what it wants to be. 

I'll share two parts that really turned me off and they won't be spoilers since they happen early on. Oh, did I mention the movie runs over two hours? Yeah, another problem for moi. I can barely sit still for one solid hour let alone two. Add a heaping dose of turkey dinner to that and I was almost in snooze-land. I kept pushing my seat to try and make it recline all the way back.

But on to my review. Our hero, Cooper, played by the yummy Mathew McConaughey, is somehow the only person who can operate this special spaceship, so he takes off and leaves his young children behind with their grandfather. No. Wrong. You don't do that. Find someone else to drive the ship. You stay home and take care of those kids since their mother died and YOU are the daddy. End of story,

Then there's a scene where it very briefly touches on the fact that many people believe the Apollo space program never took place. Huh? I know this is sci-fi and I try to stretch my imagination but come on. That's a little too far fetched for me to buy. I couldn't do it.
