Happy New Year! I'm posting this early on New Year's Eve, before I get started with the evening's festivities, which will more than likely include sleeping in late on Tuesday. I hope you also have something fun planned, or a quiet, relaxing night to look forward to, whatever your mood.

I thought back on 2012, and came up with a few observations and objectives for the next year. 

1.Though I'm pleased with what I've done, I would like to have written more and will do so in 2013. 
2. I'm going to continue to combine my passions, strong women, magic, and interesting sex, into my stories. 
3. I'm going to develop better writing habits and spend more time with my focus on writing actual books, and less on social media. I love roaming around Facebook, Twitter, and other authors' blogs, but find they are taking up too much valuable writing time. 
4. I'm also going to cut back on blog hops and other contests. I thoroughly enjoy reading the comments and interacting with visitors, so I know I won't eliminate them entirely, but these events are time consuming, and I can't participate in them all. *sigh* Never fear, I will maintain a presence in the virtual world, I just plan to make the effort I spend there more productive.

Whoops, did I miss Tuesday? Between the holidays, a busy work schedule, a little extra fun, and my honey being home and annoying me to distraction, the days have got away from me. One more holiday to go, then we can get back to normal. Much as I enjoy the festivities this time of year, I miss my regular routine.

I love the name of this event, Blissemas. I wanted to write about something that gives me bliss, but there are so many things to choose from. I finally decided to share the latest addition to my family, Lola the cat. My wonderful companion of nineteen years went over the Rainbow Bridge in October and a little piece of my heart went with him. I mourned for my furry friend and trudged through my days, missing him terribly.

Then, circumstances introduced me to Lola. I love cats, and knew I would eventually get another, but I wasn't quite done grieving for Sammy and didn't feel right bringing another feline into my house to replace him. I wanted to wait a bit longer, but Lola didn't have any more time. I searched my heart, and came to the conclusion, I could still be sad and cherish the memory of one love, but open my heart to another.

Lola turned out to be the perfect cat for us. She likes scratches, chin and belly rubs, and cuddling next to my honey and I, but she is also happy hunting lizards on the screen porch (yes, she brings them inside to play with, and I perform lizard rescue on a regular basis) and watching the world from there. She's adapted to my crazy schedule, and rolls with it. Already, I'm a sucker for her big sweet eyes and pitiful meows, and feed her treats far too often.

Though I still cry for my departed friend, I'm slowly falling in love with Lola. She is my Christmas bliss, and I give thanks every day for her.

Okay, it's serious now. December is here. No putting off those holiday preparations any longer. Do you have your tree up and decorated?  Your gift list started? Cards sent? Me neither! I've tried to keep Christmas 'lite' and stress-free the past few years, and find I enjoy it more that way.

My tree is up, and will be decorated slowly. Some things won't get put on, and that's okay. I don't send cards anymore, and I applaud those who do. That will be something to look forward to doing when I retire. Gifts? I buy a few, but have finally talked my adult siblings into not exchanging gift cards. My honey and I buy each other small items, but would rather have a weekend away as a treat.
