Ahh, autumn, that beautiful time of year, when we say goodbye to summer, and welcome chilly weather. Bring on the sweatshirts and flannel pjs! If you’re fortunate enough to live in an area that is starting to cool down, you probably notice a change in the foliage, as the leaves lose their lush green color and begin to display the rich reds and golds of fall.
The scientific reason the leaves change color is because there is not enough light and water to support photosynthesis, so the green chlorophyll disappears. I believe it’s Mother Nature working her magic, giving us one last delightful show before the cloak of winter settles in. I visited my home state, Missouri, over the weekend. I absolutely love to see the rolling hills and the fabulous colors of October, and I took every opportunity to gawk, like a dog with its head out the car window. Much as I like being in Florida for the cold part of the winter, I do miss the Midwest in the fall. The slight nip in the air puts me in a mindset to light a fire, whip up a batch of mulled wine, and most important, snuggle up with my sweetie. I hope it does the same for you!
